The launching of Lennetal viaduct over almost 1000 metres was the largest transversal launching ever performed in Germany. The structure is part of motorway A45 and is one of its largest viaducts. Due to increased traffic and its deteriorating structural condition, the bridge had to be replaced. To minimise traffic obstructions as much as possible during construction, the new superstructure for one lane was built next to the motorway and subsequently pushed into its final position by transversal launching.
