Sustainability at SSF

Creation of works committee sustainability

The construction industry is responsible for around 40% of CO2 emissions and is a significant contributor to man-made climate change (source: UN Executive Summary for Buildings Report, 2020). As part of the sector, we strive to actively work towards a sustainable transformation and rethinking of all parties involved in construction.

SSF Ingenieure has always been committed to a resource-efficient design. In view of the worsening climate crisis, we now want to increase the focus on all aspects of sustainability. Thus, we decided to create a company-internal works committee for sustainability. The committee, which comprises 33 SSF colleagues, has started its work on 1 October 2023. Eight work groups pursue different subjects regarding the entire lifecycle of structures and their in-company sustainability at SSF.

The committee has two main objectives: Firstly, the establishment of project guidelines for sustainable design in civil engineering, and secondly, the achievement of SSF climate neutrality. Important parts of our work are to make knowledge available in lecture series and continued training as well as the creation of a knowledge database and the dialogue with active associations and interest groups.

We at SSF Ingenieure AG want to assume responsibilty and actively work towards a sustainable transformation. Our commitment within the work committee strives to enable us and construction developers to better evaluate and implement projects in view of ecolocial, economic and social implications. Furthermore, we want to develop strategies towards becoming a more sustainable company ourselves.

We are looking forward to working in the committee and give life to our slogan “SSF cares for climate”.
