Major Contract for Expansion of National Road B236 in North Rhine-Westphalia

Preservation design incl. project planning and structural engineering of over 40 engineering structures

We are pleased to announce a new major order for the expansion of the road network in North Rhine-Westphalia. National road B236 in North Rhine-Westphalia runs from the Westphalian district of Coesfeld along the eastern Ruhr area and ends in North Hesse. In the area between motorway A42 and national road B1 it is tangent to the eastern city centre of Dortmund and resembles a motorway. In the framework of a preservation design, on a 3.4-kilometre-long section, the route will be expanded to a width of 31 metres and the carriageways will be renewed.

SSF Ingenieure in joint venture with IHB GmbH from Leipzig and Dittmann+Ingenieure from Dresden has been contracted by the state road construction authority North Rhine-Westphalia for designing the expansion of the national road including a motorway interchange with slip lanes, ramps and further junctions. The expansion requires the renewal and renovation of over 40 engineering structures which necessitate project planning and structural engineering designs. The structures comprise bridges, retaining walls, noise barriers, traffic sign trusses, Deutsche Bahn safety enclosures and rainwater treatment systems.
