Bypass West Halle

4-lane expansion completes double bypass around Halle and Leipzig

In the framework of the German Unity Transport Project, currently, motorway A143 creating a bypass west of Halle is implemented. This closes the double bypass around Halle and Leipzig and relieves the city of Halle from interregional transit traffic.

At the heart of the 13-km-long north section is construction lot 4 “Saale Bridge Salzmünde”. It comprises the norther part of interchange Salzmünde, a 210-m-long noise barrier, the 183-m-long river bridge made of steel and the 785-m-long prestressed concrete foreland bridge built on a launching truss.

SSF Ingenieure, branch Halle, has been contracted in 2022 in joint venture for construction supervision.

Construction started in spring 2023. Currently, the bored pile foundations are built as well as the bridge piles. Moreover, the launching truss is assembled, and at the southern construction field, the launching yard for assembly of the steel bridge is prepared as well as the retaining walls. Comprehensive earthworks and canal constructions are implemented as well.
