“Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” is the theme of the EXPO 2015 in Milan. With the motto “Fields of Ideas”, the German pavilion is clearly in line with this central theme. Germany presents itself as vivid, fruitful landscape full of ideas for the food of the future.

The pavilion offers insight into how important a respectful treatment of nature is in order to provide food security, and invites visitors to become active themselves. Architecture and exhibition are closely intertwined. The pavilion, shaped like an ascending landscape, is reminiscent of German fields and landscapes. A central design element are stylized plants that grow from the exhibition as “idea shoots” to the surface, where they spread their canopy. Visitors can experience the “Field of Ideas” on two paths: on the first path, they stroll on the freely accessible landscape level, which invites them to enjoy. The second path leads through the exhibition inside the pavilion – from food sources to food production and consumption in the urban world.
