Particularities

The design developed in the context of the competition for the new Weser bridge in Bremen shows a structure that is deliberately subtle to preserve the character of the Weser meadows.

The design is based on a maximally slender, semi-integral steel composite construction, picking up on the filigree impression of the old bridge and structurally developing it. The change between ortho-composite deck slabs over the river and traditional composite method on land creates an economically efficient and low-maintenance solution.

Laterally projecting frame supports reduce the span widths over the river, and the suspended cycle path clearly divides the different mobility methods. Our contribution to the competition aims at minimising interference into nature and natural habitats and at the same time creating an efficient and risk-reduced construction execution.
