New bridge concept for ÖBB

Replacement structure of Trattenbach Bridge in Spital am Pyhrn

First monolithic framing structure in Austrian Federal Railway Company’s network with a total length of 100 m

The railway bridge over River Trattenbach is a novelty in modern engineering. It is an integral structure with monolithically connected abutments. This type allows the execution of a very slender bridge and fits well into the valley of the Trattenbach gorge. Traffic loads, especially horizontal loads, are efficiently distributed by the selected system. As the first structure in Austria, the entire bridge was completely calculated in accordance with Eurocode and verified by monitoring problematic loads before opening it for traffic.

The Austrian Federal Railway Company counts on savings of at least 15 % over the whole life cycle compared to conventional types without frame-like construction.
