From 16 September to 11 October 2019, BIM Weeks took place in Bavaria. Users of digitalisation in civil engineering were given the opportunity of exchange with one another. During several events, companies, associations and research institutes provided an insight into the practical work with BIM – and as experts in this field, SSF Ingenieure naturally participated. Digital design has been at the centre of our work for more than a decade and BIM Weeks gave us the opportunity to present our skills in the framework of the event “Use of BIM models for the application of VR”. The presentation took place on 7 October 2019 at our company offices. First, we showed the interested participants the process from the model to the VR application. Afterwards, our guests could personally experience the virtual world in a fictional tunnel. During the VR presentation, our specialists were available for dialogue in the framework of a come together to answer further questions. An interesting discussion started between the participants; clients, employees of the CAD department Bavaria and different companies, students and researchers exchanged their points of view of and experiences with BIM use.
