Spectacular Girder Placing at Railway Bridge Lindwurmstrasse

In the night from 12 to 13 May things got moving: at the replacement of railway bridge Lindwurmstrasse the first 14 of in total 26 rolled concrete girders (WiB) were placed – while railway traffic was maintained.

Each of the 34-metre-long steel girders weighs around 9.6 tonnes and was delivered directly to the construction site by heavy haulage transport – two girders per truck. Placing of the girders was a matter of millimetres: placing took around 30 minutes for each girder.

A large step for the bridge superstructure – and a great spectacle for everyone live on site.
