Second Main Line: Update on the Progress at Munich Central Station

Yesterday, injection drilling underneath the underground station of lines U1/U2 started. This measure prepares for the subsequent underpinning of U1/U2 by boring machine for three tunnels (two rail line tunnels and one reconnaissance and emergency tunnel). Goal of the injections is to fill potential cavities and to stabilise and homogenise the soil above the tunnel. Those works are accompanied by comprehensive monitoring of U1/U2 by water levels, chain inclinometers, tachymeters and other measuring tools.

At the same time, works at the second to last level (level -5) in the area of the main exit of the stop point at Central Station Munich continue. An excavation depth of 35 metres already places the structure one level deeper than the floor of the underground station of lines U1/U2.

Already the day before yesterday, works at level -4 have been completed, where the last step entailed the activation of compactors to support U1/U2.
