Complex constructions between Berlin Südkreuz and Blankenfelde

The around 16-kilometre-long regional railway line between Berlin Südkreuz and Blankenfelde is part of the so-called Dresdner Bahn which already since 1875 has connected Berlin via the towns of Mahlow and Blankenfelde to Dresden. To use the existing line for regional as well as long-distance transport in the future, comprehensive modernisation works are required. Amongst others, two new electrified long-distance tracks will be built and all nine railway and road bridges along the tracks will be replaced.

The new tracks run east of the existing line and require the relocation of the regional train tracks. At the same time those regional train tracks will be modernised and the terminus is relocated to the south. In Blankenfelde a combined platform will be constructed to facilitate a comfortable transit between short-distance and regional trains.

SSF Ingenieure has been contracted with on-site construction supervision for three of the in total 14 tender packages.

Currently, SSF’s construction supervision is focused within tender package 5 on the completion of the “crossing structure Mahlower Kurve” south of station Mahlow in the town Blankenfelde-Mahlow. The newly built structure brings two long-distance tracks (line 6135) over the tracks of another long-distance line (line 6151) at a crossing angle of around 185 gon. The structure consists of a closed reinforced steel frame made of in-situ concrete on footings. The frame has a span width of 7.40 metres and a total length of 100 metres. The structure is built in blocks of around 10 metres divided by expansion and compression joints. A trough structure is connected to the frame structure. The trough north is in total 241.50 metres long, and trough south 198.50 metres. Those troughs are as well built in blocks of 10 metres.

Tender package 6 includes preparation of the final state for commercial operation of long-distance tracks (track 3) as well as the completion of the outside and combined platform including its access structures. This operational bundle also includes the completion of the concrete ballast as mass body as well as the superstructures of railway bridge Karl-Marx-Strasse (part of the railway bridge replacement project).
