Innovative bridge solution in Lenting

The requirements for this bridge construction constantly developed: In addition to high quality standards, short construction time, limited resources and ambitious climate goals play a significant role. All this necessitates construction methods that satisfy those requirements.

A promising approach is a new modular construction method with a high degree of prefabrication and digitally supported design processes. The performance of this concept is currently tested at the pilot project bridge over Lentinger stream, in cooperation with MaxBögl and on behalf of Autobahn GmbH.

An important milestone during the construction process was the placing of the prefabricate modules at the Lentinger stream structure. It showed how precisely design and industrial production interacted with each other.

The comprehensive prefabrication of the individual components significantly reduces construction time on site. At the same time, the structure is convincing by its directly usable deck slab made of high-strength concrete that doesn’t require additional sealing or asphalt layers. Even during operation, it has advantages: The required maintenance is reduced, while the optimized material use and short construction phases have a positive effect on the CO2 balance.

Moreover, a particularity of the Lenting structure are the substructures as the abutment walls were prefabricated at the plant and then placed on conventional bored piles and grouted.

The project was something special for our team personally: It is always impressive to see how precisely design and prefabricated components come together step by step to form a completed structure.

The bridge in Lenting is a model for a construction method that unites efficiency, quality and sustainability – and makes an important contribution to sustainable infrastructure.
