Opening Ceremony of West Bypass Rosenheim

After many years of design and construction, it is done: on 17 September 2025 the west bypass Rosenheim (federal road B15) has officially been opened. Around 400 guests from politics, the administration and industry came to the ceremony to celebrate the completion of this regionally important project. Amongst the speakers were Minister-president Markus Söder, agency head at the Federal Transport Ministry Erhard Zangl as well as Bavarian minister for construction Christian Bernreiter, who all emphasised the importance of the new road for Rosenheim and the surrounding areas.

After the railway bridge over the new federal road B15 near Wenhardsberg, SSF Ingenieure provided the authorized engineer for the railway company DB AG and carried out the railway technical examination. For Aicherpark and Mangfall bridges, important parts of the around 11-kilometre-long bypass, we also implemented construction management, on-site construction supervision, project management and railway construction supervision. This part of the road had already been completed and opened for traffic in 2023.

The west bypass is the largest road construction project in the history of the State Construction Authority Rosenheim. Its implementation was not only technically challenging but also of special importance in view of reducing traffic in the city. The new connection will divert through-traffic from the inner city, leading to less congestion, shorter driving times and a better quality of life in Rosenheim. At the same time, links to trans-regional routes are improved.

After the ceremony, remaining works were completed before the entire route was eventually opened for traffic. Since then, the west bypass is drivable in both directions and fulfils its purpose: it provides increased traffic safety, a significant relieve for the city centre and modern infrastructure for the entire region.
