New Bridge for Husarenstrasse

More space for traffic in Grimm, Saxony
The historic railway bridge Husarenstrasse in Grimma has been an integral part of the city for 150 years, but it also is a bottleneck for road traffic. To make more space for cars in the future, DB InfraGo AG is building a new underpass directly next to the bridge with two lanes, each 3.24 metres wide. The old arch bridge will remain and is being renovated according to monument protection guidelines. It will then become a safe and attractive link for pedestrians and cyclists.
The new structure is built next to the rail embankment and will be launched during a multi-week line closure.
The renovation of surfaces at the historic arch bridge has already been completed. At the new railway bridge, cables have been relocated, and pit excavation and lining have started to prepare construction next to the line.
