Launching of Unstrut Bridge Karsdorf

An important construction section at the renewal of Unstrut Bridge in Karsdorf has been successfully completed: The around 300-tonne-heavy steel superstructure of the new river bridge has been launched into its final position by SPMT heavy load modules.

A particularity was the launching path: The steel superstructure was transported over the already completed flood bridge. The heavy load modules carried the superstructure safely and precisely over the existing structure and subsequently, launched it to its intended position.

The successful launch marks another important step at the replacement construction of the historic Karsdorf arched bridge. The new crossing of the Unstrut river comprises a single-span river bridge with a span width of 50.10 metres, a 92-metre-long flood bridge as well an around 50-metre-long retaining wall in the south-east section.

At this project, SSF Ingenieure signs responsible for project planning and structural engineering from feasibility study to construction management for the services of engineering structures, transport installations and demolition planning as well as on-site construction supervision including supervision of steel structure prefabrication.
