Groundbreaking for Remodelling of Road L23 near Rail Station Fangschleuse
13. October 2025
Removal of level crossing
On 6 October, an important infrastructure project kicked off: the symbolic groundbreaking officially started the construction of a new road bridge over the railway line Berlin-Frankfurt (Oder) in the area of station Fangschleuse.
The existing national road 23 currently crosses the tracks at level – a barrier crossing that leads to longer and longer waiting times due to increasing road and rail traffic. In the context of the upgrading of traffic installations around the new Tesla plant as well as the relocation of station Fangschleuse this level crossing will now be removed.
East of the current crossing a new road bridge is planned, which will then lead traffic over the tracks. The bridge with its two lanes will also include a combined pedestrian and cyclist path. The around 735-metre-long construction section will mostly be implemented while road and rail traffic is continued. Starting in the summer 2026, a complete closure of road L23 is planned to completed construction works. By December 2026 the road bridge will be finished and opened for traffic.
SSF Ingenieure has been contracted with on-site construction supervision and review of contract addendums and supports the works until opening of the new bridge.
The new structure will permanently improve the capacity of transport infrastructure in the developing region Grünheide. The new station Fangschleuse will be rebuilt at around two kilometres to the west in direct vicinity of the Tesla plant and manage regional as well as freight traffic.
