Construction Works of the Next Section at the 2nd Main Line Started

2. Stammstrecke Ostbahnhof

20. May 2025

Together for the 2nd main line Munich – section east

The around 2.9-km-long tunnel tube starts at stop point Marienhof, crosses the city, passes under river Isar and terminates at the future stop Ostbahnhof (deep); it is a central link between the districts Werksviertel and Haidhausen. Along the railway line, in addition to several cross cuts and evacuation shafts, evacuation shaft 7 at Maximiliansanlage – a potential connection point for a future south link – will be built.

As SSF Ingenieure AG we are not only responsible for coordinating tasks as head of the joint venture – as we did for stop points Central Station and Marienplatz – but also leading the implementation of station box Ostbahnhof (deep).

We have just started the final design for the new station box and to move the project forward into the next phase. The planning of urgent works – especially the diaphragm walls and pit lining of the around 280 m x 32 m large and 20 m deep construction pit – is in full swing so that three tunnel boring machines can soon start their journey towards Marienhof.

We are happy to actively participate in this exciting project and to successfully implement its phases with everyone participating at the construction.
