SSF colleagues visit the large-scale construction site at Central Station

The construction of the 2nd regional train main line is one of Munich’s most important infrastructure projects. It aims at relieving the highly frequented regional train line, improving the existing network and providing new long-term mobility concepts. The large-scale project entails three new underground stations – one of them at Munich Central Station.

Around twenty of our SSF colleagues used the opportunity to get a clearer picture of the construction progress on site. The tour gave them interesting insight into the technical challenges of the projects and the dimensions of the underground structure.

Ms. Brietzke and Ms. Lopp from DB Netz AG, Michael Weizenegger, head of the tunnel infrastructure department and Michael Schneider, project manager at the tunnel infrastructure department at SSF Ingenieure, showed the group around the site.

SSF Ingenieure is part of several engineering joint ventures, which, since 2017, have been contracted by DB Netz AG to optimise the planning as well as consecutively the draft and approval designs and final design of the three underground stations at Central Station, Marienhof and Ostbahnhof.
