Steel structure at the concourse
When you currently arrive at Munich Central Station and walk through the track hall, you’ll immediately notice the huge steel structures above the concourse.
They are part of the so-called integrated solution for Munich Central Station – a comprehensive project comprising the construction of the 2nd regional train main line, a new station hall as well as provisional space for a potential future U9 underground line.
In this context, the current construction site will be extended towards the west onto the track hall. Preemptively, the side buildings along the station have already been demolished after having been striped of utility pipes and cables. The next big step is the dismantling of the roof over the concourse.
In view of this phase, the large steel scaffolding, which covers the entire length and height of the concourse, has been assembled. It’s not only a working platform for dismantling the roof but also a provisional roof and weather protection for the platform area. In the passenger transit area F90 composite supports were arranged, on the top mostly open profiles are used.
The foundation is built with System Ischebeck micro piles, adapted in position and orientation to the existing construction elements, installations and cable routing. Inside the transit tunnel underneath the concourse, a reinforced concrete firewall was erected serving as border to the construction pit. At the same time, it distributes loads from the scaffolding’s supports into the foundation piles.
