35 Years Representation in Berlin

On 1 November 2025 we celebrated the 35th anniversary of our Berlin branch – and 35 years of exiting projects, committed colleagues and a part of company history.

At the beginning of 1990, shortly after the fall of the Berlin wall, our management at Schmitt Stumpf Frühauf GmbH – today’s SSF Ingenieure AG – decided to venture into East Berlin. First contacts with BMK Ost, operating part Berlin, developed into a successful collaboration leading to the foundation of Schmitt Stumpf Frühauf GmbH Berlin in November 1990.

Under the management of Adolf Barsch, supported by experienced engineers like Wolfgang Blandau and Wolfgang Döring, a competent team worked from the start. Initially, the team found offices in Marzahn before moving to Schönhauser Allee. The building there – an old tobacco factory – was renovated and converted after our own ideas. Until today, it houses the offices of our Berlin branch.

Adolf Barsch managed the branch until 1998, followed by Christian Ommert from 1998 until 2017, who advanced the further expansion of the branch. Since 2017, Ulrich Castrischer heads the Berlin branch; he is also a part of the SSF Ingenieure AG board of directors since 2025.

Since its beginnings in the 90s, a long-established branch developed where we work with knowhow, creativity and passion. In the last 35 years, our Berlin colleagues have significantly contributed to making SSF Ingenieure a strong partner in the civil engineering industry – be it infrastructure projects, buildings, as a construction partner or general contractor.
