175 Years Elster Viaduct

The Elster viaduct in the Saxon Vogtland region celebrates its 175-year anniversary. At this occasion, Deutsche Bahn AG and company Glass Ingenieurbau GmbH invited to a celebration at which many visitors honoured the impressive structure and its history. Some of our colleagues who participated at the general renovation of the bridge, were also on site and used the opportunity to celebrate the result of their work together with other project participants and guests.

In the context of the comprehensive general renovation, SSF Ingenieure had been contracted for overall construction supervision. The multi-year project aimed at making the historic brick bridge fit for the future and at sustainably preserving its monument-protected structure. Since completion of the renovation works, the more than 170-year-old structure combines history and modern railway infrastructure in a remarkable way.
