The new Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology was established in 1997. With its three research centres, the institute aims to investigate the history of humankind with the help of comparative analyses of different genes, cultures, cognitive abilities, languages, and social systems. On an area of 18,600 m², the institute offers laboratory buildings, a bistro, fitness rooms, a library, meeting and conference rooms.
